Co+op Explorers - new program for kids!

Children aged 12 and under are invited to become "co+op explorers" at the Belfast Co-op, making them eligible to receive one free piece of fruit per child per day. To become a card-carrying Co+op Explorer, children simply need to bring a parent or supervising adult with them to a cashier and ask to become a Co+op Explorer. Each child will be issued their very own Co+op Explorers card.

Once children are signed up, here's how it works:

  1. Children and parents stop by the produce department to get their free piece of fruit and their Co+op Explorers sticker. Take a sticker and put it on your child's shirt or jacket, so Co-op staff will know your child or children are fruit eating Co+op Explorers, and they can account for it at the checkout counter. Then, each child's eligible to take one piece of fruit and enjoy eating it while you shop. There is a compost bucket in the Co-op Cafe for after they've finished.
  2. When you check out, please remind the cashier that your child or children ate a free piece of fruit as part of Co+op Explorers so that the Co-op can track participation in the program.

The community-owned Belfast Co-op, open 7:30am-8pm daily, is located at 123 High Street in downtown Belfast. Everyone can shop, anyone can join!
